I missed my running blog post last week. It was kind of a crazy week, I just started my high school hockey season, so I haven’t had as much time to write as I normally do. For those of you who are on the edge of your seats waiting for my weekly running post, I’m sorry for missing last week.

I hope I’m forgiven.

As far as the running, though, I haven’t missed any of that. I’m basically at the point in my running program where there is little, if any walking. I have to say I’m plenty surprised with my ability to power through these runs. I’m still searching for that elusive runner’s high, but at least I can say my conditioning is probably where it needs to be for these 2 mile+ runs.

I actually altered my run yesterday so that I could run to and from my polling location to vote. It was a little shorter than the program called for, but I compensated with a full speed pace (your half speed is probably faster than my full speed FYI).

It was a weird first for me – I had never run anywhere to complete a task before yesterday.

Speaking of voting, I always seem to have a memorable encounter at the polling station. Generally the people working the election seem to think I’m a high schooler voting for the first time. I’m not really sure why I don’t seem like an adult… I guess I have a baby face.

Yesterday, though, one of the people working the poll (I have no idea what their job titles are, or if they are volunteers) asked if I was a track star.

Can you believe that? A Goddamn track star. I’ll take it.

I’ve been doing this shit for 11 weeks and I already seem to have that presence. I don’t know what gave it away. Maybe it was my sleek runner’s outfit, heavy breathing or athletic physique. Either way a poll worker called me a track star, and for someone who has never won a race, I think it could be the ultimate compliment.

If only my middle school PE teachers could see me now!

Anyway…. 2 more weeks with this program then I am D-O-N-E!!!!!
