Don’t think I gave up on you!
I know success never sleeps, but I think I’m allowed to take a day off from the runner’s life for Labor Day. It was also hot as shit today, so I did my running while the sun was on its final approach to setting.
Today was the longest workout so far….. by 4 whole minutes. Those 4 minutes suck when they are spent running. Or maybe not.
I will say that when I looked at today’s workout…
5 minute warm up walk, 3 minute run, 2 minute walk, 4 minute run, 3 minute walk, 4 minute run, 3 minute walk, 3 minute run, 2 minute walk, 5 minute cool down walk
…I thought I was going to throw up, but I made it through, and it actually wasn’t so bad. Now that I’m 10 runs into this, I feel like my strength is slowly coming on. I didn’t feel so miserable after today’s workout like I did after day one, and I’ll take it!
I’ve come to realize that I’ve spent God knows how many hot August/September days running through football practices, so I know I can do this. The only differences are that I’m 26, not 16, and my FEV1 is a distant whisper of its former self.
But that’s okay, it only means that there’s room to improve.
Today was a tiny 2-mile achievement on the road to larger achievements.
I’ve got a men’s league hockey game tomorrow night (the dream never dies), so I’m TBD on whether I get my second run in this week on Thursday or Friday.
Legs do, in fact, feed the wolf, so maybe I’ll push through the pain on Thursday in an effort to get back to my Monday/Wednesday/Friday running schedule next week. These blogs are easier to write on Monday’s, and I guess this is for the people….
We’ll see.
Until then, I STRONGLY urge you to consider donating to the Boomer Esiason Foundation’s Relief Fund for Cystic Fibrosis Families affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Here’s the LINK for that.
Oh, and guess what… Football is back babyyyyyyyyyyy
